Views, filters & bulk edits
Save the arrangement you work in, group and order it your way, and change many tasks at once.
A view is a saved arrangement of the backlog: what is filtered in, how it is grouped, how it is ordered, and whether it draws as a board or a list. Set up the screen you want, then save it.
The built-in views
These are always there and cannot go missing:
| View | Shows |
|---|---|
| All | Everything. |
| Active | Work started or waiting to be started. |
| Backlog | Work not picked up yet. |
| My tasks | Assigned to you and not finished. |
| Needs triage | Appears only when something is waiting. |
| Current cycle | Appears only while a cycle is running. |
Each connected tracker also gets a built-in view of its own board, so the picker above the list is one control rather than two.
Filtering
Narrow by text, status, status category, assignee, priority, your labels, the tracker's tags, milestone, cycle, origin, whether a task is blocked, whether it has a run, top-level only, and due date.
Two rules that save confusion:
- An empty filter does not narrow anything. A field you have not filled in is not a filter.
- "No assignee" and "no milestone" are values you can pick, so "mine or unassigned" is one filter rather than two controls that cannot express it.
Filtering by status or category takes the excluded columns off the board entirely. Every other filter keeps all the columns, so a board never looks like it has fewer stages than it does.
Grouping, ordering, layout
- Group by status, assignee, priority, label, milestone, cycle, or not at all.
- Order by priority, created, updated, due date, estimate, title, or manually.
- Layout — board columns, or one wide list.
Ordering happens inside a group, never across the whole board.
Dragging
Drag a card to put it where you want it, and to move it between groups — dropping on a different column changes the status, dropping on a different person reassigns it, and so on.
Three headings refuse a drop, and say so: a label group (a task has many labels and is already in two columns of that board), a tracker's status (its identity is a name on somebody else's board), and the triage queue (a task leaves it by being accepted, not by being dragged).
Manual dragging is offered only while the order is your own. Under a board sorted by due date, a dragged row would just spring back.
Saving a view
Saving is a gesture on the board, not a screen in settings — the view is the arrangement in front of you.
- While you are on a saved view you changed: Save changes.
- While you are on a built-in: Save as a new view. Built-ins are forked, never edited — changing how you read Active should not change what Active means for everybody.
- Saved views can be renamed and deleted, and a view can be kept private to you or shared with the project.
Changing many at once
Turn on selection, pick the rows, and set one field across all of them: status, assignee, priority, milestone, or cycle. These are the fields you pick from a list — an estimate and a due date are typed, and a label is something a task holds several of.
Some of a selection is often owned by a tracker or already gone. The answer says what worked first: "3 changed. 2 belong to the tracker."
Selection is off until you ask for it, on every surface — a permanent column of checkboxes down a backlog is furniture for a gesture most people use once a week.
